Canadian Police Knowledge Network-Approved Cannabis & Workplace Safety Online Course

Wed, 10/31/2018

The Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) has approved SayleGroup’s Cannabis & Workplace Safety Online Course and Certificate for use among their membership (the RCMP and regional Police).

Policing forces / agencies across the country are responsible for enforcing the laws that govern the use of off-duty recreational cannabis use.  However, these organizations are also employers and must demonstrate their own OHS due diligence regarding this cultural shift.  The course we’ve developed is applicable to any organization, no matter the nature of its operations.

With this approval, members of the CPKN can use our educational resource to transfer understanding, as proof of competence will be key as we all move along this steep learning curve.

With Cannabis & Workplace Safety, you get a comprehensive look at the top issues facing your workforce, including:

  • Impairment
  • Duty to Accommodate
  • Employer Obligations
  • Employee Rights & Responsibilities
  • Physical Safety and Mental Health
  • Workplace Best Practices
  • Reasonable Suspicion
  • The Future Landscape

This cost-effective, user-friendly online course sets a baseline about what we currently know about the issue, and maybe even more importantly, what is still being studied.

The outcomes / benefits of this course will allow organizations to:

  • Competently assess and revise their Fitness for Duty Policies (including Zero-Tolerance).
  • Understand their legal obligations and how they’ve changed with the legalization of off-duty cannabis use.
  • Gain an awareness of the risks and liabilities (ensuring their due diligence).
  • Educate their workforce around the change and the requirements of the policy.
  • Meet the legal obligation for workers’ “Right to Know” about hazards.

All the above outcomes are recorded as documented evidence of competence on our Learning Management System (LMS) for every user, including a Certificate.

Your opinions for or against cannabis use should not be given more credence than the safety of your people.  Make the choice to empower your people through education, so they can protect themselves and your business.
